Rubbish rubbish rubbish

Another problem with this damn blizzard is that there is NO trash pick ups.. Either outside our apartment, bins on the street or in the subway. Here are some delightful shots of my current surroundings!

More blizzard pics

Here are some more shots from this bloody awful blizzard. It's horrendous trying to get around. Cars are just abandoned on the streets, shops aren't opening. It's Armageddon!! I am planning on winning the lottery and getting out of dodge until the end of March.

Boxing Day Blizzard

Merry Christmas! What a Boxing day... I have lived here off and on for almost 22 years and I have never known snow like we got hit with yesterday. We drove back from the inlaws in Philadelphia (here is Joe getting the car ready for the drive up) - little did we know, this was a tiny amount of snow in Philly vs New York. Total mayhem. The drive was the worst, we had winds of up to 50mph - my knuckles are white! It took four and a half hours to drive 103 miles. All the side streets are a total mess, and we can't even let the kids outside as it's just to deep! Hideous!!

Cupcakes

The inlaws spoilt the kids rotten whilst we were away in London. Here is a snap of one of the moments. Why are kids such angels for grandparents and then monsters upon our return??

Primark rules

I braved Primark on Oxford street (I did have to have a drink before hand) and came across the best 10 pound gift ever. This cute, Polar express train that is supposed to go around a tree, but doesn't fit in our pokey apartment so now is taking up half of our living room. The kids love it so that's what's important right, not floor space?!

5 years and counting!

It's all about the wood...
We made it to five years so decided to go back to the scene of the crime. No kids. Bliss!! it was a super fun w/end, we look knackered because we were but here are some snaps. Checked out the Abbey so we know where to head on the 29th April, saw the most beautiful sunset leaving heathrow, and h, and the biggest box of chocolates ever. Thanks Aunty Mandy!

Only In America

Would you see a car with 266412 miles on the odometer.
And only me would post this.

A tree in Brooklyn

Here it is, the 2010 Brooklyn Christmas Tree. Margaux finally decided that she would put on her halloween costume, having previously refused every day since October 31st. She also refused to sit with Santa (aka Carlos) so here is Santa hearing how Batman is very important on December 25th.

OUCH!

You have to see this... I went for laser hair removal in my neighbourhood last week and this is the painful result. I have had blisters on the burns, and been in pain all week. I went back a ($120) refund, and the woman refused!! Can you believe it??! She is claiming to 'fix it for no extra charge" however am on the fence.

A fun night out with my man

Spencer and I, and his buddy Denim and his mum, took the boys into the City the other night for quite the night. After the subway ride in (which they thought was part of the deal!) we went to Top of The Rock, at Rockefeller Plaza, and saw the most amazing sunset. Then we literally crossed the block to the Radio City Music Hall to see the Christmas Spectacular with the Rockettes. It was so much fun, especially because a friend of mine, Stacey, is a Rockette, so she took us backstage after to see everything. AMAZING!! Then we topped it off with dinner at a 'SHOE-SHI" restaurant and had the best time. Despite Spencer shooting edamame across the place at fellow diners, it was a successful night out.

Royal Wedding Date - April 29, 2011, a date that has other meaning

So the lucky couple have set a date. Friday, April 29. I had a feeling this date would be picked when they uttered the words 'Spring or Summer' for the wedding - Summer is miles away and the Royals never seem to have long engagements, so this date was in my head for a week (and why oh why didn't I go to the bookies...) - anyway, it happens to fall on Spencer's FIFTH Birthday next year and was planning on taking him to Disney World for it, but I am such a Royal Wedding Nut (I even watched Prince Edwards big day, how pathetic is that?!) that I have to be up watching it, even with a time difference - SO.. question is, how do I convince my son on his fifth birthday that watching the Royal wedding will be a lot more fun that Disney??

NYC Marathon 2010

Another successful party at our pad for the Marathon. We had about 45 people at our 1000sq ft pad. We went through 26 bottles of prossecco and 3 gallons of Vodka. We all waited in the freezing (but dry) cold to see Meredith Viera and Al Roker from The Today show that were running but failed to spot them. Boo hoo.

Aside from that, and also not able to spot the Chilean miner, here are some pics from a really fun day. Check out Mataro in the corner, jeeze, if he can do it, surely I can one of these years?!!

Spidey Men and November in the Park

The spiderman shots were just emailed to me. Spencer and his buddy Charlie, both showed up wearing the same Spidey costume on Halloween w/end. Here they are horsing around at Pier 6 in Brooklyn. Then just had a BUSY w/end. Had the inlaws up for the NYC Marathon and our 5th Annual Party (see later post). TONS of fun. Here are some cute shots of the kids pre Marathon.

Halloween Magic

We threw a kids only party to celebrate Halloween (halloweew according to Target's spelling on their banner). I morphed into Paul Daniels and did some magic tricks which actually went pretty well (I see a second calling here). Spence was the only one having a miserable photo (see other post). My wonderful neighbour, Alyssa, came down to be my 'magical assistant'. The box trick was the best treat of the night.

Then on halloween night, I morphed into Snooki from Jersey Shore. I can't tell you how many photos were taken off me in the streets of Brooklyn. Every time I turned around, an IPhone was in my face taking my photo. If that's what fame is like, No Thanks!

It's My Party and I WILL cry if I want to...

The only kid not having a good time at his own party..

Oprah and me...

As many of you know, I wrote my first script (actually second, but first that anyone showed any interest!) - DORIS, about a home shopping network. I even sent it to Oprah, of course it went nowhere that route... David Schwimmer even allegedly took an interest in it via the production company that picked it up (and dropped it three years later). So as you all know, I filed it away and wrote two more.

Lo and behold, in reading this weeks Entertainment Weekly (best magazine ever), and this is the bullseye - Oprah, and only of the two hottest movie actresses ever, Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep (and Oprah) doing a movie about.. A Home Shopping Network!! My dream realised, only this time, my name not associated with it. BOO HOO!! Gods were against me on that one I guess...

Trit Trot

Couldn't resist throwing this photo in of Margaux on her first pony ride whilst out in Arizona...

Our own Boardwalk Empire

We LOVE the new show on HBO, Boardwalk Empire, and so when the invitation came up to join 20 of our friends for a trip to Atlantic City came up, we couldn't say no. We got the grandparents up from Philly and joined our friends for 24 ours sans kiddies.
The first sight we came upon, literally about 5 minutes of arriving, was a naked black man locked out of god knows where, trying to break into somewhere. Pretty funny, until he smashed a glass and the next thing was he was getting handcuffed by police. We gambled at Tropicana, made about $300, spent it on rounds for everyone and passed out at 4am. A fun w/end, that I am still in recovering from.

Trip out West

I took the kiddies alone out to Arizona to visit some friends in Scottsdale. The flight there and back was nothing short of horrific, but we made it. The weather was amazing and our friends out there couldn't have been more hospitable. The jet lag however was another story. The kids were up at 445 every morning, until the last morning when I had to wake them up to get on the plane! (typical) and then coming back to the East Coast, we all slept in and the poor kids were late for school two days in a row. No more trips out west for a while I fear.
