Trit Trot

Couldn't resist throwing this photo in of Margaux on her first pony ride whilst out in Arizona...

Our own Boardwalk Empire

We LOVE the new show on HBO, Boardwalk Empire, and so when the invitation came up to join 20 of our friends for a trip to Atlantic City came up, we couldn't say no. We got the grandparents up from Philly and joined our friends for 24 ours sans kiddies.
The first sight we came upon, literally about 5 minutes of arriving, was a naked black man locked out of god knows where, trying to break into somewhere. Pretty funny, until he smashed a glass and the next thing was he was getting handcuffed by police. We gambled at Tropicana, made about $300, spent it on rounds for everyone and passed out at 4am. A fun w/end, that I am still in recovering from.

Trip out West

I took the kiddies alone out to Arizona to visit some friends in Scottsdale. The flight there and back was nothing short of horrific, but we made it. The weather was amazing and our friends out there couldn't have been more hospitable. The jet lag however was another story. The kids were up at 445 every morning, until the last morning when I had to wake them up to get on the plane! (typical) and then coming back to the East Coast, we all slept in and the poor kids were late for school two days in a row. No more trips out west for a while I fear.

Apple Picking Upstate

It was Columbus Day, which that really means is no school for the kids. So Rachel (fellow Brit) and I got the kids in the car and went upstate to Warwick, NY to pick some apples. Seems like the right thing to do in October. It was a blast (despite my two kids being exhausted). We rode on a tractor to the apple trees, the kids picked up about 50 apples, bruises mean nothing to them! There was a cute puppet show after and even wine tasting. A great day out for mums and kids!

Crabs and donuts

Two photos to post. One is pretty funny, the other, pretty gross. Spence had his weekly donut and tried to pee with it in his hand and dropped it in. He FREAKED out. Cruel mum for taking photo as he was crying, but I was right on hand with another donut.
The crab photo was my one and only attempt at making something with dungeness crab. What a hideous process... Now I know why restaurants charge so much for anything with fresh seafood. They deserve every penny!

Pumpkin Pick

Another lovely day here in Brooklyn over the w/end (now dismal, non stop rain). We took the kids to the annual Pumpkin Pick at the local park.

Margaux caught the idea of an AP photographer who took about 100 pictures of her... I hope I get to see them somewhere. My friend signed the waiver as I was busy blowing up balloons so no idea where they even will be published. In the meantime, here is my measly, photographic evidence of the outing.

Spence wants to protect his 'feet'

I took Spencer shopping for the first time on Friday. We had a little date! Super cute, we shopped at Century 21, I let him pick out everything, I wasn't going to interfere. EVEN when he decided he had to have the 'footy' pj's that he last wore when he was about 9 months old!! He wanted to protect his 'feet'.

Oh boy... I just spent a fortune at Old Navy on new pj's for him and I fear they will just sit there until his foot fetish wears off!

The Incredible Costume Designer

Spence found this Incredible Hulk figurine (no idea where it came from, so if anyone is missing it, please holler, you know how these kids have 'sticky fingers'!)

He decided to get his diesel jeans (most expensive pair ever) and started cutting them to look like the Incredible Hulk. As the jeans were age 3 anyway, I decided it would be ok to help him finish the job.

The phase lasted for 5 minutes and he's back into Ben 10...
